Default My daughter got married!

December 19, 2009 my eldest daughter is married. I don't know how many of you have experienced giving your daughter away, but it is an emotional rollercoaster.
I am still trying to work my way through all the emotions...
I feel joy for her meeting and marrying a strong and thoughtful man who has the respect of his peers and community.
I feel proud that my daughter has grown into a beautiful young woman with a family of her own.
I feel anxiety, fear for the unknown...and many other things that I am trying to identify.
I feel relief that the cerimony is over and it all went well.
Any advice or comments?

Except for a huge "Congratulations" .........not really..........another 10 to 15 before
mine get to the marrying point.

One thing though I'd expect when little uns start appearing you'll appreciate a whole
new wonderfulexperience with the family growing bigger.

That's great man that all went well........Congrat's again

Congratulations, Tom!!
My only advice would be to keep a close eye on him....LOL.. (jk, kinda)

I think it's wonderful that you can at least say some good words about him, I think that is a great start! Imagine how much worse it could be!

It's inevitable that there are gonna be some crazy emotions and uncertainty, but at the end of the day if she's happy that's all you can really ask for.
Again, congrats... and I wish them both the best.

My three are in their twenties and not married yet.

When the time comes, I will not worry because they can always come home.
The old saying is, Once a parent, always a parent.

For them it was a perfect day... and as per usual there were so many guests and so little time. Most people understand that they are there to celebrate with the couple and that they are overwhelmed by the event. Their day is busy from the time they wake until late into the night. Unfortunately, some people are wallflowers by nature and if they don't make their presence known they blend into the background... and leave feeling their attendance went unnoticed.

If they are great with each other, then it is great. They will have some ups and downs, like we all have, and probably for the same reasons. Just be prepared to be there so you have a chance to make the rough spots a little easier by putting them in perspective. Good Luck and Congratulations.

Congrats, Tom
I now have 4 G/Kids -
There will be bumps, there always are...............
But you've gained a son, not lost a daughter - every husband knows that Daddy is the number one guy in most girls book !

Congratulations mate! My girl's only 11 (boy 13) so hopefully it'll be a while for me yet. I can't wait to see grandchildren if I'm that lucky. As a parent, all anybody really wants is to see the kids find a good partner, be settled and happy. It's a bonus that you like the guy too .
