Music while riding?
#31
one reason why not to
Here's a very good reason not to listen to iPods ect

If I was listening to anything like this on a ride I'd last about 3mins
Great track to listen to while your gettin' suited 'n' booted though , I love gettin my gear on , it's like a ritual that helps focus the mind

Since you mentioned lasting 3 min.though..
I have been guilty of driving a touch fast to this one ..up way to load, with the CD set on repeat
I can only imagine on my cbr with it in my ear loud!!!
Turing on to the on ramp of our freeway here , at night , bike clean , shinny and feeling like a racehorse, wanting , needing , urging me to give it to it , open road , all revved up, ready willing and able to run the next radar trap at over 200klm per hr...
and boom this chit switched on loud in my helmet
Then its straight to 9,500rpm and hold ....just sit and fvuckin hang on , pinned down to the tank..
no side roads, no stopping for the next 30 klms !!!
om a gonna!!!!!! prolly wont even see the cops as I go though!!

or perhaps another ACDC ? :-)

BTW- all of the above was just a GOOD bad dream and I really woke up at 100klm per hrlol
think I will still give the music a miss ...

Oh, yeah...there are a ton of tracks that get me in the mood to lay down some rubber. I'm not a big AC/DC fan, but here are a few I love to run to:
My personal favorites are pretty much anything by the band 'clutch'. I used to follow them around pretty regularly. In fact, when looking for vids on youtube, I found many from shows I've been to. Kind-of neat, really. Forgot how many shows I'd been to. Just sucks that most cameras can't handle the awesome power that is clutch.
Here's one from our nation's capital back in '01. I was front right, but not the big bald security guy.
Clutch - Pure Rock Fury
And here's a video of "The mob goes wild" Funny vid...I didn't even know they had any real vids... Clutch - Mob Goes Wild
And one of my personal favorite's... "Ship of Gold"
Deftones will get you moving, too... Deftones - My Own Summer (Shove It)
Then there are classics like Zeppelin's Black Dog, and many many others.
I also like some industrial-type stuff for driving...like some KMFDM. etc.

I'm going with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUXX5HnBjx4 - Joe Bonamassa or some good old classic
Metallica: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQCC2gb0V-Q
Rather conventional,...but blasting it before a ride gives me just the right mellow attitude to eat the road without getting stupid

just go to my youtube channel www.youtube.com/adrenalinc and you'll find a few of his tracks uploaded.
He's one hell of a musician, opened at the tender age of 12 for BB King...
He played yesterday at the Royal Albert Hall in London,....Eric Clapton showed up to "chime" in for a bit...
enjoy

i have a 2 hour ride to my lakehouse, i do everything with music (i work as a car audio installer) driving anything without music is weird for me, but never too loud to be destracted, i even wakebord and ride my jetski with ear buds in, probably not the safest thing to do but i have been riding my entire life with music (even a walkman on my childhood 70 durt bike, i am used to it and get bord without it, even though the bike is fun, i go the speed limit, even on open highways, too many tickets already, i have 300 $ a month insurance on my jeep, witch is slow as can be, cant afford another speeding ticket, the music keeps me occutied so i dont get bored and try something stupid
