The King County (Seattle) prosecutor dismissed charges on 175 misdemeanor possession cases the day after the initiative passed. He figured what was the point?
Proponents of the new law argued a number of points
1. It frees up law enforcement to deal with real crime
2. With taxation and State control it takes power away from the cartels. Though I'll argue that once you tax something everyone looks for away around the tax. Grow your own is what they're telling us, I guess.
3. Revenue goes to fund schools
Sparking up a fatty on the street will be considered "Public Consumption" same as drinking in public which is a no-no here
It's not going to make Washington the New Amsterdam but just for novelty's sake, one day, I may just wander down the street to my local State Sanctioned, Government Approved weed emporium to sample some of their finest.
Put my mellow on.
I, for any reason, would not consider riding stoned. Wouldn't work having to look out for all of the stoned drivers out there. One will need his wits about him then
I mean you'd have to take into consideration things like drivers waiting for the stop sign to turn green and massive back-ups at fast food drive-thru's

During Jimmy Carter's administration, he lifted the law that stated you couldn't home brew. I think it was the 21st amendment that lifted prohibition in 1933. Something in there gt missed and home brewers and wine makers got missed until Carter fixed it. You still can't distill in the USA by law.

The law officially passed today. Strange, I don't feel any different.
Interesting factoid.
Washington State's legalization of marijuana went into effect the day after the 79th anniversary of the repeal of prohibition
Hey Shadow. The transcript of the new law is available online in a pdf. I'd like to get a judiciary opinion of it
If it would please Your Honor
