Default Daughter's first ride

I took my 11 year old for her first ride this past weekend. She is addicted now.

Well done & yes Great pic. I start my kids when they are about 1 year old. As soon as they fit into a helmet I take them for a slow ride up & down the street sitting in front of me. Once their feet touch the pegs they're on the back but still slowly & only up & down the street. I take them for longer rides once they reach about 8 or 9 years old. A real treat is when you pick them up from school. They think they are so cool.

Needless to say but I'll say it anyway. Thanks for teaching her the right way and outfitting her with proper gear. Here in Kansas, helmets are optional and it worries me because the passenger is at the driver's mercy.

You guys look great and I know that she is proud of her Daddy.

Cheers,

Yep, I second that... Good for you, teaching her right...

I recently witnessed a guy on a harley with what I'd guess to be a 5 or 6 yr old....riding in front of him on the seat with no gear on at all. He didn't even have shoes on her!! I wanted to slap him silly. (or sillier, I guess...)
Man, that upsets me. Not even legal at all, either...

My God that picture takes me back to when my dad started taking me on the back of his 1KF ... I was about the same age, maybe 12 ... I was hooked ever since, it's all his fault I tell you ... I didn't play with dolls I went and sat in his garage with him while he worked because I loved the smells, a sort of bike smell, you know, oil/petrol/rubber/metal and workshop :-)

I know that you US guys think helmet is being responsible, but I don't think jeans and sneakers is "proper gear". The denim fabric lasts about 0,6 seconds if you slide on the tarmac, compared to leather that last about 10seconds.

But I won't complain about you taking the kid for a spin! It's the best thing a kid can experience! Click on my profile, in my album there is pics of me and my (then) 8 yearold daughter., now she's 9...

Not if they're padded kevlar riding jeans.........................................
But 4 sure a very good point to be made , so I'll have to cut out the flip flops
and shorts to the beach routine.....wish they made a kevlar neoprene jump
straight in the ocean riding kit
