Big day in Scotland come Thursday.
I have been following this whole Yea/Nah vote with some interest. My good lady wife was born in Scotland and moved to NZ in her early teens.
We have both found it very hard to find informed rather than inflamed opinion on either side.
But I did find this of interest.
Perhaps a portent delivered from the afterlife from Harland himself?
A reasonably accurate map of the UK, less Scotland, discovered in a bucket of KFC just this week.
(Cue Twilight Zone music).

MmmmmmmmmmmKFC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FkI wasn'thungryuntillyoudidthat!!
It's like divorce, can there really be any winners? Of course if the relationship is really unbearable, it's better to split. But the cost will be high to both sides. The question really is, is the price too high? Only time will tell.

It would appear that they could choose to go with either the GBP or the Euro. Of course neither of those options would give them any control over their own monetary policies (interest rates etc.).
So maybe they would revert to the much maligned Scottish Pound; but I presume if you have your own currency, there is somewhere tucked away some gold bullion to actually back it up??? Maybe that's just an old fashioned concept.
What is very clear, with the polls showing such a close divide in the vote; whichever way it goes, half the population is going to be unhappy.
A bunch of unhappy Scotsmen and some whiskey; probably not the best combination for a nice quiet weekend. The polls opened about half an hour ago. Time will tell.
