Here's part 9, and sorry, she's a bit of a long one, but we are able to push through and finish the job - at least as far as rebuilding the motor goes

Installation and test-fire will be the next (and if all goes well, final) episode

Sorting through all this footage made me realize that I should really clean up the shop a little more frequently. Now that I don't need to be as paranoid about dust I might spend a couple hours picking up a bit and giving it a good sweep

Hopefully I don't find any alignment pins

You should be overly pleased with yourself having created this episode - I'm impressed!! Pirsig suggests the balance/contrast between romantic and mechanic, and you have achieved both here.

Yes - I love it.

I wish I hadn't been in my 20's when I read Zen. I liked it, but a lot of it was over my head. Might be time to revisit it - after the bike's done of course

Thanks for all the encouragement, and glad you guys liked it!

Feel exactly the same here, need to revisit, but I have a few books before going back.

Great job, can`t wait to see it fired up. No locator pins found on clean up then?

G'day tentaclslap I was wondering if you have to take the engine apart or at least the top end to change the cam chain and tensioner ? Can you or anyone else provide an answer? Thanks guy

You should be able to do the job without taking the head off. You will need to remove the valve cover and cams to access it. Here's a link to a great writeup on that very process

Hope that helps
