Hey Dave! Thanks, man!
I've done it both ways.... engine running and not.
Only thing I found was that when i did it cold once, it whined a little when I started it. Then I just ended up readjusting it while it was running anyway. So from then on, I just didn't bother doing it cold. Just seemed easier to do it while it's running...

I would think if you don't do it inside, you should be able to hear the whine, because it's pretty noticeable when cold. Heck, you can probably still hear it inside, too...?

Just remember to keep a little pinch on the balancer shaft (don't completely loosen the pinch bolt) because if it's totally loose there's a possibility it could turn on it's own with the engine running.

Thanks for the info Dylan, I'll give it a try but my 'pipe's pretty loud . "Honestly Officer, it's just for safety reasons..so the 'roos can hear me and get out of the way."

Gotta get some proper bar end weights sorted too. The riding position feels great now and I don't want to go more upright. Must be 'bad vibes' making my hands go a bit numb.

Let me know how it turns out, and if it makes a difference. I'd be interested to know.

Hey, Shawn. Glad I could help.... lol..

I couldn't help but notice you live down by the dragon. That's cool. A bunch of us are planning a trip down your way the weekend of May 16th. Maybe you could meet up with us or something.

is this adjuster on all of our bikes or just the full liter motors? My 919 has a whine but I have always assumed it was power valves like my RM 250... yes I'm new to these motors but before I get dressed and head back out to the garage... I thought I'd ask

all your how too's are great by the way

Shoot, man... missed your post. (I was in and out of the garage myself. Carb night...lol)

I'm not sure about your bike. I know the liters all have 'em, but I don't think the older 600's did.
Guess you'll just have to check the manual on yours...

I have never done this adjustment before. I tried it since I took all the plastic off to check her out since I am going to Ohio tomorrow. I thought why not do this and try it out. I followed your directions and I heard nothing different at all. So I put it back where she was and tightened her down. I think I will let you see it in May.
