swapping a 93 petcock with a gravity fed 97 petcock to eliminate fuel pump on 1993, can this be done please let me know what you think and if so what will need to be done where do the vaccume lines go

would this MOD also work to get rid of the pump in an 1987 cbr 1000 ?

Yes, it will work, but are you sure you won't need a fuel pump? The vacuum hose would go to the (LH) carb, closest to the petcock, there should be a hose nipple there with a cap on it. :cool:

Whats the vacuum line go to? Whats it for?I got ny 93 900rr a coule of weeks ago with the fuel system in boxes. My problem is that I didnt take it apart, so I don't know how it goes bac together. That being said, mine now runs without a fuel pump. It has the 93 petcock on it but needs a new one since the original doesn't appear to be rebuildable. It has rivets on it instead of screws. Its leaking fuel on my garage floorsince it doesn't shut off compleatly. I found this out when trying to remove the tank. So I may drill out the rivets and put screws back in or run down to the used parts store to see if they have a replacement for it.

The vacuum petcocks keep fuel from flowing unless there is vacuum, so theoretically, you never have to turn them off, they are automatically off even in the "on" position, unless the engine is running. Makes em take a while to start back up if you run out of gas, but other than that, they are great. :cool:

Where can I find one of these petcocks? What year of bikes did these come on? We have a good used parts store in Indy that could get one for me. Thanks for the help.

Also, I have a vacuum line coming directly from a port in the intake and not from the carb itself. Its directly under the carb on the far left. I currently have it capped off because at this point I have no idea where it should go or what its for. The other 3 ports look like they have a cap screw in place and not the ****** fitting like the one on the far left. Thanks again....

That's exactly like mine, except that port isn't capped, there's a hose on it, and it goes to the petcock. Those other 3 capscrews get hose nipples installed for carb synching. I don't know why Honda didn't just put hose nipples on all of them, but if you're gonna do a lot of carb or jetting work, might wanna go ahead and buy 3 or those fittings, and caps for them. That's easier than putting the fittings in every time you wanna synch your carbs.
I found my vacuum petcock on Ebay for $18, under CBR600F2 parts, just look for one that has a vacuum chamber and fitting on it. :cool:
