Installing PCIII on 07 600RR

Okay! So I installed a Power Commander III USB (PCIII) on my bike last week. Lots of fun, but it takes a LONG time. (did a laser exhaust install at the same time, so I can't say for sure... but think 4 hours as a starting point) It's not for those that are technically challenged, but if you're willing to take the task on, here's something to help you along!

Tools you'll need for the job...
[ul][*]Your "Honda hex-key" from your "tool kit".[*]8mm, 10mm, and one 12mm Socket/Wrench[*]Screw Driver (flat head, mainly for prying and such)[*]Bungy cords or some other kind of wire/string/etc.[/ul]Okay! So here we go...
Take off both your seats.

Next, Take off your side panels (I left the lowers on the bike). I'm assuming you have your owners manual and can figure out how to take off your panels, so I won't go into detail here.

And when you're done... (both sides) it should look something like this.

After this, we need to remove the tank cover...

And then it'll look about like this...

Okay, you would need to get this deep to change your air filter... so if you haven't, this might be a good time to check it. I was in a hurry, so I didn't actually check mine, I figure I'll worry about that when I get my new BMC filter here in the future.

Next, we've got 2 options. You CAN do this with only propping the tank back...

Eventually, I got frustrated with the room that I had (there's a rubber "flap" under there that kept getting in my way), so I removed the tank. Not super hard, lets just hope your gas tank isn't full!) Anyways... now we grab our handy Power Commander...
http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/8943/img1729ej1.jpg

Now, you don't hook the power commander to the (easy to get too) upper injectors, you go for the ones down lower, under this flap...

We're going for this set here....

Now we take the power commander and start at the back (you may want to remove the rear plastic to make routing the wires easier)...

Now, we pull the wires down through the tail section on the left side...

Route the wires down to the right of the battery and under the tank "pivot point". Hook up the negative from the power commander, then once past the gas tanks pivot point, run the wires back to the left side. Unplug the fuel injector plugs and hook in the PCIII bypass plugs from left to right. When you're done, it will look like this.

Then, we need to hook up the Throttle Position sensor (TPS) plug-in from the PCIII. It's hidden on the left side behind this set of plugs. Just unscrew the bolt here and move it out of the way.

And... now put it all back together! Turn it on, make sure it runs... then get a computer, hook it up and start maping away! Good luck!

RE: Installing PCIII on 07 600RR

It came with a map for the bike... but I didn't know if that ment it was a "zero" or "Stock" or what map... soI dumped a "Stock" map on it (the revised Dyno Jet stock-fix). I can't find one... unless someone knows of a place, that uses the Laser exhaust... so I've thought about playing around with different exhaust maps... though the design of the Laser isn't like alot of other exhausts (two-brothers, Jardin, Akrapovich, etc)... so I don't think it'll map up super well.

But hey, it's there to mess with, and until I get a custom dyno tune, mess with the maps I shall!

No pics of the exhaust?

Sure! I know it gets a ton of "I love it!" then "That thing looks dumb"... at least from my experience with opinions before I bought it... but I love it! Here's a few pics...

Ha, doesn't Power Commander say that the typical install takes 15-20 minutes? Mine took a lot longer than that too.

RE: Installing PCIII on 07 600RR

I can believe that would be true on some bikes... but there's no way in crap that'd be possible... unless you had a team of people, had done it several times before, and all of you were quick!
