Not a problem in Kalifornia. They are legal here, one of the few things that are....

Not to thread jack you, but I have this whistler cruisader. Was designed specifically for motorcycles. It's pretty much plug and play. Has a wireless led that mounts in the helmet and flashes when a radar band is detected. The nice thing is the display is small, and looks like a gauge, so unless the cop knows what he's looking at, the have no idea it's a radar detector. I got pulled over once for not using my turn signal, and I swear the cop looked right at it and didn't say anything. Best $275 I ever spent.

Mr 509, like I said in the original post, I went with best price/performance. I looked at these, but they were a lot higher in price and a lot lower in performance. NONE of the radar detector review sites that I looked at recommended them.

Radar Detectors are legal in Kalifornia and CHP dont care if you have one or not, heck, CHP will even give their own mother a ticket. I used to work with the OC Sheriffs and they drive their "county supplied" unmarked cars in the car pool lane just to piss the CHP off.

Moral of the story, they dont care if you have one or not. The specs of the 995 are very close to the V1, and, at 1/2 the price, that's what I'm talking about.
