How to piece together a turn signal (winker)

For those of us who like to roll around with factory winkers and on occasion... tear one up. Here is a little how to on piecing together a signal form newer years to make a very nice looking 97/98 signal. This can be done with any winker, you just need to know which stock you're looking for. FYI for some folks with newer bikes (08 and newer), Honda does sell the stock separate from the bulb housing, so check a fiche to see if you can purchase the individual parts you need.
I search around on eBay and found what I needed totaling $15. A lot of times you can find really nice bulb housing for really cheap because people replaced their stock winkers with low profile aftermarket winkers. A good bulb housing (I found a 06) and a good stock. In the past I have used housing from F4is, and hunted around for a good stock from a nasty 97 winker.

1. Remove signal from the bike.
2. Remove the lens and bulb.
3. Remove the three screws that hold down the bulb fixture.
4. Remove the screw that holds the stock and bulb housing together. To do this, run the screw driver up the hole where the wire harness comes out. Place the screw driver between the harness and the stud on the stock. You will not have to angle the screw driver at all because the screw is right in line with the hole.
5. Gentle begin to pull out the bulb fixture and you'll see a little gray rubber plug. This come out of the housing, but not off the harness. Completely pull the rest of the harness out of the housing, gently though.
6. You should now have the two halves. Throw out the bad parts and pull up the parts you're going to use.
7. Feed the wire through the hole in the bulb housing you want to use and install the bulb fixture into the bulb housing.
8. Feed the wire through the stock.
9. Hold both pieces together and pull the wire towards the pointy part of the stock. I usually balance the screw on the end of the screw driver and find the how by sticking the screw straight up.
10. Install bulb and lens.
11. Install on bike.
