How to install a Givi kit and Wingrack (lotsa pics!)

Hey guys, since I haven't found a nice tutorial with pics on how to install this kit, I thought of taking some pics while I was doing it, so here it is!
And if someone did it before... oh well, I did it too! :)

First off, remove the tail

Then drill an 8mm hole through the one already existing on the frame, going through the fender.

Once the hole is done, remove the rear fender and then make a 12mm hole through the previous 8mm one.
This is a good time to remove the blinkers, as they won't fit with the wingrack on:

Once the 12mm hole is done, put the spacer in it and then the rear fender back on

Is hot in here, need some good company to get the job done!

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_FN3xGToB6cI/SS...0/DSC03068.JPG

Need to remove that small tab (wich is already marked on the plastic) so the support can go through

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_FN3xGToB6cI/SS...0/DSC03069.JPG

And there it is in place:

Once that is fixed, we need to put the middle support in place. Since mine's an aftermarket voltage regulator, had to split the spacer of the support in half, otherwise it wouldn't fit.

And that's how it looks once in place, using the same screw and nut from the muffler support to hold it.

That's how the Winrack2 looks like in place

Right side support:

And finally... uglyness? [:'(]

Not the coolest thing to look at, but certainly, is the best thing we can do to carry a lot of luggage on our 1000Fs.

I'll be looking for some narrower blinkers to fit the rear fender, so I can easily remove the winrack when I don't need it (just 6 screws, 3 each side, and it's out), leaving only the lower supports in place, wich doesn't bother that much (at least on a black bike!).

Hope you guys found it useful, and muchos saludos desde Buenos Aires!!

Sweet man!!! I had an old Givi top case which could be anchored using the muffler bolts, but yours look very good compared to that one I got.

Gracias por compartir y Saludos!!!!

Hola Daniel ! Nice work, buddy !
The Givi rack fitting is very similar to the Nonfango unit on my bike, except I can leave my side racks off when not using them. Kaspar's right - ice cold Beer and friends make the work go much better !Here's a pic of mine with the boxes on - looks like an elephant !
Saludos desde casa de Zulus !:D:D (??)

Thanks for the comments! decided that I'll be using the two side cases for now, so I removed the top support along with the blinkers. I've found a couple that I had lying around from my Kawasaki, turned out they fit perfectly:)

Now the supports don't look so out of place like before... my idea is to leave it as it is on the bike, then use the cases whenever I need (have a narrow entrance to my house!)

Thanks for this write up and install. I just put the 3 bag Wingrack on my 87 Cane. Can you tell me how inportant the middle brace is? :icon_shrug: The one by the voltage regulator. The 87 does not have no place to attach the brace to there. Thanks in Advance. :icon_bike:
