RE: Electronic Trunk Release for F4i
I give props on that idea.;) If a Goldwing can keyless entry on the trunk and saddle bags why not a F4I. Laziness is the mother of ingenuity.:D

RE: Electronic Trunk Release for F4i
most alarms have an extra relay option that you could use as a remote trunk release just like a car:D if you wanted to get real fancy with it

RE: Electronic Trunk Release for F4i
when did my f4i get a trunk? i have an extra small glove box that fits gloves, and an owners manual ;)
good write up though, i might consider doing it in a couple months |
RE: Electronic Trunk Release for F4i
I'll definately have to do this with my bike...probably wire the release to an alarm relay so it can be operated with the remote. Handy since my bike was stolen then recovered and I'm really not looking forward to having to change all the locks to make the key match.

RE: Electronic Trunk Release for F4i
i did this mod with a solenoid kit i found on ebay for 20 bucks. it works great! the only problem is that i cant find a hot wire that is more than 10 amps that is only on when the ignition is on. the only other wires i found that are fused at 30 amps are the main ign. wires etc that are always hot. mine works but i can blow a fuse if i hold the button on too long... (the solenoid is a 20 amp)
anyone know of a lead (on a 99 F4) that is more than 10 amps and is only hot with the ignition on????? thanks |
