Clutch cable lube

Okay I'm having trouble using the luber tool. It seems to be just squirting out the top and none is making it down the cable towards the clutch. I wasted about a third of a can already. Any tips/ tricks from all you pros out there? Tool loose? too tight? out of position? Thanks!

any time that ive lubed any cable (throttle/brake/clutch) i just move the cable back and forth and put a drop of oil/lubricant on the end at a time.
this method works best if you can take the cable completely off and hold it vertically while doing this, if not, it just takes longer to lube it.

When I use the lubing tool I pull the cable out enough so the ball is at one end and the opening to the sheath is at the other end of the tool. Then I crank it down as hard as I can, insert the straw of the lube can into the hole, then wrap the whole thing with a rag. It still seeps but I manage to get the whole cable lubed without using the whole can.

Hope this helps.

yup i agree with this. I have found no matter how hard you clamp it down the rag squeeze extra method works the best

Thanks for the tips! I will give it a shot again...

If you look inside the luber tool the rubber is stepped, moving the luber further down the cable so the point your clamping is at one of the smaller steps should give a better seal. Then wrap it w/ a rag and spray the lube w/ a 5 second shot and it should make it through to the other side of the cable. It does take some trial and error the first time.
