Default Won’t start :(

Hi all,

im not very mechanically minded, so this may be something very simple.

Haven’t been using my bike properly for about 3 months, but every now and then i was starting her up, which was fine. Went to start her this morning and she wouldn’t, assumed battey was flat so disconnected battery and tried to charge it- wouldnt charge, i then cleaned all the contacts around the battery and put it back in, tried to start her and she did fine! But in my haste i forgot to reconnect one of the leads, after connecting this lead she wont bloody start again 😡, its a small black cable which connects in to what looks like a single fuse. Does anyone have any ideas? I cant trace where the cable goes as it heads under the tank (picture attached - i hope!).

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Its the black cable on the negative terminal

It doesn't look like a stock connection. What has been added to the bike? Also, a ground should not have a fuse on it. I suspect that it belongs on the positive cable, but sure would be nice to know what it is for before switching it.

Not really. You don't want to guess at it. Follow it and see where it goes. You may nees to lift the tank a little so ypu can see under there.

Yes. It's simple. Only a few bolts hold it down.

You don't necessarily need to take it off all the way. Loosen it up and lift it enough to peek under it to see where the wire goes.

Is there a chance that if they are wired into the rear lights, and a bulb has gone that this would cause the issue, in the fact thats its not creating a circuit?

So had a look and thought even if i get the tank off and trace the cable i wont be able to fix it, so i tried to bump start to see if i could at least get it to a garage next week, it wouldnt bump start and now all i get is a ticking sound and the green light buy the key symbol flashing... this is becoming a pain in the **** as i want to get her sold as she dosnt get used and up until recently i have no issues!
