Wheel Bearing Check

How do I check my wheel bearings to see if they need to be replaced? Thanks.

RE: Wheel Bearing Check

Good question, put the bike on the stands (front and back), and the spin the tires backwards and forwards, if you hear any clicking - the bearings are toast...

When I purchased my 04 600rr (used) It had about 11k miles and sure enough, the rear wheel bearings were clicking. I went to the shop, had them swapped out and VOILA ! No more clicking and good bearings !

=)

RE: Wheel Bearing Check

Just checked the wheel bearings, moving the wheels in reverse makes no clicking noise but there seem to be a lot of lateral play. How difficult is it to replace the wheel bearings on both wheels? Do I need any special tools? I have to remove both wheels to have the tires replaced so I'm thinking of replacing the wheel bearings at the same time. Thanks again for all your help!
