Default Tire Suggestions

My Metzeler M-1s are almost in there "eraser stage" and was wondering what tire I should purchase next. I'm leaning toward the Metzeler M3s but I'd like to hear what you guys have to say about the tires you've used in the past. (Particularly, what's the most miles you've got out of a rear tire?) Thanks... [sm=feedback.gif]

I've used the 208ZR's at the track at a decent pace and never had a problem with them. Have Q's now that I have'nt had the chance to try at the track, but for a street tire seem pretty good, although they dont last long under a heavy throttle hand. Pilots I've heard are quite good. Rode my neighbors R1 that has them and it handles nicely. I'm going with the Diablo Corsa's for my next set. Mostly street riding with two - three track days tossed at them. They too dont last long under hard acceleration from a liter bike. For street riding I think the Pilot's would be fine as are any of the others listed above.

I thought the Pilot Powers were in that category with the Corsa's. What is Michlen putting for a tire in that area? Is it the Pilot Race?

well...it's like this...the corsa isn't even in the pure track category...it's like by itself...
it's geared like 70/30 track/street...the others are more like 30/70...

so like it's not in the same class as the pilot race, etc...that would be the supercorsas or the dragons, etc....
it does stick very well on the street and can handle all the heat cycles of street riding but not the wear.

I got a M3 on my RR back in January. First guy to get them in my area due to a shipping mistake. Was suppose to be a M1. Great tires. They feel very grippy and very comparable to pilot powers if not better. I didn't feel one time any slip, even with a short warm up and when it was cold outside. I also got a new set of diablos that were on sale just recently, so I'll have to test those out next. They are suppose to similar to pilot powers as well.
