Default Tire repair question

Damnit.....I noticed, after a ride, that I had somehow gotten a small nail thru my back tire....only about an inch off center. Now here is the question.....this back tire is a fairly new tire, a Meztler M1, and from what I understand the only real ways to fix a nail hole is either: A.) plug the tire with a standard tire plug kit....which actually makes the hole bigger and is not always effective....plus it's right in the middle of the tread. or B.) Take the tire off and attempt to patch the hole with a patch kit....which again is not always effective. Do either either of these methods affect the speed rating of the tire, ie: make it more unsafe to ride at higher speeds? Or am I just going to have to bite the bullet and buy a new M1??[&:]

Hate ta tell ya this but be safe and get a new tire. When you've got 4 tires and one goes bad, a patch job might be okay. But when you've only got 2 tires and the one that drives it is defective...

well that all depends do you plan to do any serious riding on the tire? if not then plug it till you have the money to get a new one and go from there but if you do plan on doing some "weekend riding" then do not ride on a plugged tire because ive done it before when i was young dumb and stupid lol and the tire had blown out the plug and almost caused me to wreck. luckily i was only like 5 miles from my house so my friends rode the rest of the way with me at like 3 mph lol

The only real fix ielegal here inCanada anyways)for the tire is what they a "plug/patch" combination or a "mushroom" plug. Yes you can fix itif itisnot too far off centre I think a one inch area off from centre either way is acceptable. Also if the tire is repaired you should drop a speed rating, so if you running a "Z" rated tire you drop to a "V" rated tire, but it is still rated to runup to150mph continuous running.

I personally wouldn't want to risk it. Like was stated above, you only have 2 between you and the pavement.

I use those same tires, and it seems eversince i started using them.....I PICK SHEET UP ALLLL THE FUNKING TIME! I had a shop patch my tire, and they decided to put green slime in there, i could feel all that crap throwin my tire outta wack, but for commuting it wasnt too bad, the slime save me some $$ till i got that tire good and worn out
