Throttle to sensitive
Hey guys i have a cbr 600 and with it being my first bike i feel like my throttle is very sensitive. i barely touch it and it already revs ups really fast. kinda makes me a little nervous thinking that if i touch it to hard trying to take off at a light i will jump off the line. is their anything i can do to change that?

First off, how much throttle are you actually giving it. Use some tape and mark closed, full and half throttle. That should give you and us a measure on stuff.

was it a stock bike? r6/r1 throttle tube is a popular mod - and that can make it a 1/5 or 1/6 quick turn - which i imagine would be too much for a new rider
i'd say it's just a throttle adjustment issue though. how much of a dead spot do you have (play in the throttle tube)? |
Throttle and clutch control..practice, practice, practice. There is no other way to control how fast the engine spools up. Just ride the clutch more than normal on take off...which is a three step process ie: 1. blip the throttle ( rev the engine once ) 2. Ease the clutch out till the bike starts to roll 3. Throttle on SMOOTHLY. You don't have to blip the throttle but it does sound cool to. Do you ride with friends that are more experienced? Watch and learn from other riders around you...not the squids lol

If it's a used bike the PO may have installed a 1/4 turn throttle which isn't good for a newbie. In that case you want to go back to stock.

it is a used bike and conrice i have no play from what i can see

Try to loosen up the cable and see if that helps. The adjuster should be by the throttle.

how much should i losen it up. and should i do that while the bike is on and off??
