Tank slappers

Tank slappers
So i just bought a 2006 1000rr a few weeks ago after previously owning an '02 f4i. Im starting to realize that tank slappers occur on the 1000rr typically when I'm shifting into second. I havent dealt with this problem before and I'm unsure of what the best resolution is.
What is the best way to sove this issue?

I'm hoping you mean headshake. Cause this is a tank slapper

And if you're getting that every time you shift to 2nd, I'd stop riding...l forever And I thought the 06 1000rr came stock with a HESD? Was it removed?

How violent are the tank slappers? Do you mean headshake? How many miles are on the bike? has it been in any type of accident?
Shadow is correct, your bike should have a steering damper on it. They have an electronic one. Its the HESS unit right above the gas tank on top of the triple tree. As long as no one removed it, it should be there.
As for whats causing the issue, its hard to say. My bike ( an 05, but basically the same bike) has never had an issue with tank slappers, even with some situations that should have caused them, so the stock unit works well. All I can think is something must not be aligned correctly or something is worn out. Check your Front and rear tire alignement, check your suspension settings and tire pressure. Also check to make sure you don't have a severely cupped front tire.

Thanks for the input. It must be headshake then because it definitely isn't as rough as that video hah. I'm sort of new to these terms so i guess i misworded it..I'll have to take it into the shop so they can check the alignment and etc though..
I appreciate the feedback!

That's the stock damper

Well that does change things slightly. I don't have any experience with the Honda damper but I have a mechanical one that came stock on my bike. I only get headshake if I'm hitting Ludicrous Speed or I really hammer the throttle on really rough street.
So yeah, have the shop take a look. Prolly something minor
