Tachometer Flutters?

I was riding my 2001 929 home from work today andnoticed at a red light that the tachometer was jumping/fluttering. I havethe idleset at 1,500 rpm and it was bouning +/- 500 rpm. It's weird because the engine does not seem to have any illeffects such as surging or skipping. Here's the history, this past weekend Ireplaced the OEM plugs with NGK Iridiums,Sprayed intakewith throttle body cleanerand brushed (tooh brush), and also replaced the old air filter with new OEM Air cleaner. The bike has roughly 10,500 mi.I did placemy ear on the gas tank to see if there was any engine noise misfire, ping, chatterie. loose spark plug etc., butengine seemed to idle smooth. This is really driving me crazyhttps://cbrforum.com/micons/m13.gif!!! .Is anybody other than me experiencing this problem or similar issues?Your suggestionsor opinions are welcome. Thanks -Trajiks9

I'm not really mechanically inclined .. but why don't you try to synchronize 4 throttle body ... that'd be my suggestion ..

and i've only HEARD .. that spraying cleaner directly into throttle body is wrong way to do it .. i was suggested that i should spray into rag n clean em off ..

synching things wont help his problem, which is an electrical issue. you need to check your connections on the wires, get a wiring diagram for your bike, and possibly multimeter. also check your grounds for anything loose.

Unless you do this, you're going to have this issue forever.

If this fails, you have either a tach going bad on you(not unlikely) or an issue with your CDI, which gives the signal for your tach I think.

my bike did that a lot when my map sensor was crapping out. i'd double check your air/vacuum hoses and electrical connections that you came across on the way into your bike's innards. i'm sure it's just something stupid.

my 954 had the same issue.it was a loose connector for mine.
