Suggested maintainence?

Well Iv had my bike(02 F4i) since Jan 4 and have already doubled the mileage. I know it needs oil/air filter/chain+sprockets but other than that what should I replace? Whats the average time for replacing the plugs/wires? Anything else? Thanks for any replys.

RE: Suggested maintainence?

I think you're fine. Just general wear items need to be replaced (brake pads, fluids).

Spark plug replacement is mostly personal choice. They'll run fine for 8k miles easily, but on the other hand I have friends that replace plugs every summer just to keep everything fresh and running nicely.

As for the plug wires I wouldn't worry about that at all unless they start cracking or you're not getting spark. Just ride and enjoy!

If you notice it slowing down at all or you're putting on alot of miles the only other thing I'd suggest is having your clutch checked/replaced.

Well Iv got 8000 miles on it. Ill pull the plugs out and check them. If they look bad then Ill replace them. I didnt think the wires would have a problem. Thanks for the input.

dont forget to do the wheel bearings! Tbone just had a friend hit a wall because the front one went out. The guy was in the hospital, had 192 stitches in his face because of a open face helment.

I'm with L8X, if you plan on doing maintenence yourself, do yourself a favor and get a good manual. In the long run it will make all your maintenence tasks easier and safer, as well as give you alot of good pointers and tips. Not to mention it has a schedule of when to do certain tasks. I am a strong believer in doing your own work (as long as it is within your abilities) For me it makes riding that much more enjoyable. Of course there is the added benefit of saving money :) ..... But start out spending a few bucks on a good manual, it will be worth its weight in gold.

RE: Suggested maintainence?

All Honda manuals and their website shows the proper suggested maintenance for our bikes. Anything changed sooner would never hurt the bike.
