sprocket size
 
new to this and not sure if im in the right area but here goes. got my new sprockets this weekend and dont think they are ok. the front is a 17 and for some reason they got me a 34 tooth rear. this is for a 90 cbr1000f. the stock is a 42 tooth. whats going to happen if i put this on ? any help is appreciated. thanks

Wow, that's hardcore low. I have no idea what kind of impact that would have. I know it's going to take power away, but how much?

8/42 is almost a 20% reduction, so it would have to make a huge difference.

You'd be very slow off the line, but you could cruise the highway atreally low RPMs, once you finally get up to highway speed. And you'd need to downshift a couple gears whenever you want to pass someone.

If you go ahead and do it anyway, please report back and let us know how it worked out.

Usually when changing sprokets most people go the other way for more acceleration. Your not likely going to need that much top end.

Unless you have your own private airport runway or something in which case do you mind if I use it to test my top speed?:)
