Spedo cuts out when hitting bumps.....

Ok, I need some ideas here. I have a 95 900RR and have a few issues. Whenever I go over a bridge or hit small bumps, my speedo & odometer cuts out. When it goes out, the light for neutral quits working as well. It will stay out till the next good bump, then everything starts working again. I'm sure something is just loose. The funny thing is the tach still works regardless of if the speedo is working or not. Any ideas where should I check?

I'm not sure if this is related or not, but my temp gauge quit working a few months back. It hasn't worked at all. The bike operates normally and the fan cuts on and off like it should. The gauge just doesn't work. Where should I start troubleshooting? Thanks in advance.

Could be a pinched wire that is cutting out evertime you are going over a bump. Which wire it is I could not tell you. You are going to have to pull the display out and check for pinched or breaks.

Pull the cluster and check for corrosion and gunk inside the connectors. Most of the stuff snaps together pretty tightly so I'm thinking crud on the connectors. The tack is independent of the speedo so that's probably why it's not affected. And as long as the fan cuts on and off then you know the temp sending unit is o.k. So either more crud on connectors or the temp gauge itself is dead.

How's the wrist taking all that bumpy riding? Lately I'm beginning to think the object of road crews is to put bumps in the road to keep us under 100mph [8D]
