Slip-on install
 

hey guys i have just recently install a yoshimura pipe on my f3 and things went smoothly. i just wanted to make sure the pipe is angled correctly... when i installed the slip-on pipe onto my stock header pipe..i slid the yoshi. pipe down until it is touching the ring/lip that is on the stock header. is this correct? i was looking at my buddies f2 that has a two brothers pipe..and his has about 3/4inch gap between the end of the slip on and the ring/lip on his stock header.(He purchased the bike with the pipe) The tip of his muffler is also sticking further back than mine. The bottom tip of my muffler angles slightly to the right when standing directly behind the bike...I will try to take pics to help my explaination.. thanks

Without looking at the bikes...

And without knowing what the lip on each brand of pipe looks like.....

Sounds like your buddies bike is not set-up properly. In other words...the sections of pipe on his bike is not pushed together far enough.

I recently installed a slip on Scorpion...

You should have no gaps between sections...(I'll take some pics of a properly installed and secure section.)

Take some pics of your bike if you.

Also...if I am not mistaken since I have never worked with a Yoshi pipe...

A slip on doesn't connect with the header pipe...but the mid-section of pipe...

It usually goes...

Header...into mid-section...into canister.

Each pipe is different, so you can expect the same results from a Two Bros and a Yosh. There should be a crease on the midpipe to stop it from sliding, but you want it flush with that. That makes sure you wont have an exhaust leak. Make sure the brackets are tight and you should be good, but pictures may help./

You may have figured this out by now...but I went ahead and took a pic for illustration purposes.

This is pretty crude but I think you will get the idea.



The top arrow points to the contoured flange of the mid-pipe.

The bottom arrow points to the canister and it's squeezable flange.

See the little cut out sections that are almost hidden by the clamp?

*Note how close the two pieces fit together but one does not overlap the other.


On this particular pipe...and most out there, this is how the pieces should fit

together.

Thanks for the help guys.. by reading your comments i'm pretty sure i installed my yosh. pipe correctly. i will take some pics asap...
