Signal Resistors
 

I just bought some flushmount signals and they sent me some resistors with them. How should i mount these resistors? Since they get hot I am worried where i can mount them inside the fairing. These things are bulky so i am wondering if i should even mess with them at all. Any suggestions?

I'll be honest with you...i let mine run for a lil while, and they never did get real hot. I just wrapped them in electrical tape, and tucked them under the left side of the tail.....no probs at all.

But maybe that's just me lol.

I had resistors sent to me for my Clear Alternatives LED taillight, and, honostly, i prefer the tail signals blink faster. It stands out more. I compared it to my buddies with resistors and, his blink normal rate, but, mine blinking faster are much more noticable. Just my $.02

I put hot bodies on the front and did not put the resistors on. I agree with cbrjeeper. The fast is better.

With hot bodies LEDs on the front and Clear Alternatives integrated on the back.... I had to use resistors. I didn't have a flash at all. I used heat sleeves from an auto parts store and tape them up to keep the heat off my plastic. Works great.

I had to put the resisitors on other wise it just looked like the blinkers were pretty much steady. You have to connect these two both wire's. Not just loop it in, dont know if that makes any sence to u but thats how i did it and it worked nicely. I had to tuck them in nicely but they do fit. Good luck

I also run Hot Bodies flush mounts on the front and I used a diode-resistor combo to slow the rate a little bit. I just used a short length of heat shrink around the pieces and it never gets hot enough to melt any plastic. I also think that the faster blinking helps because those LED's are not as bright during the day as the stock bulbs are/were.

Yeah, i don't have flushmount LED's for the front signals, so, it sped the flash rate up just right. So, if ya don't have an aftermarket LED taillight with integrated signals, you should be ok with LED flushmounts. Post up some pics

I just put my hotbodies on yesterday, the resistors got REALLY hot and burned up fast. I got bigger resistors (10 ohm, 10 watt - which should be plenty of power, from what i calculated the lights need 6.5 watts) and they still got really hot. Put them on with no resistors and the faster blink looks better and i think is a little safer IMO.

i spent the $20 and got one of the plug-n-play no-load flashers and replaced my stock one with it.
