Default Side Stand Touching Drive Chain

So I washed my 02 CBR600 F4i today and during the cleaning and lube of the chain I found my side stand contacts the chain. I did have a good bit of play in the chain so I tightened it up and it still touches. Any ideas how to get the stand to stop touching the chain?

I have about an inch of play in either direction and the chain was replaced a few months ago when the bike was returned from being stretched to stock. The swing arm indicator does show it's almost in need of replacing.

Not familiar with the model, but should there be a some kind of a stopper rubber that has fallen off maybe? The angle of the pic doesn't tell much at all other than for some reason it rises too high. Could you compare them side by side?

Where would the stopper be located? I might be able to get my friend to bring his over so we can do a side by side.

Perhaps a dumb question, your stand isn't slightly bent is it? By the picture you posted it looks just a bit off to me. May very well be the angle of the pic tho

I just looked at the schematic on one of the online parts website and it doesn't show any rubber stopper or anything for that model year side stand. I'd say something got bent.

You said it was stretched? Was it lowered as well? A lot of people who stretch and lower their bikes modify the side stands so that the bike still leans over when on the side stand.

Take a picture of your side stand and then your friend's side stand. I'd bet money it's been bent (on purpose) or modified and that's why it's rubbing on the chain.

Look on ebay for a stock one. Should be cheap. You can probably tell by the picture that it's different from what yours looks like.

From what I can tell it doesn't look bend. I'll have to look into verifying that it is truly straight. It did come off of a wrecked bike as the original was modified for the stretched and lowered position.

It should be about parallel to the chain in the fully upright position. Yours seem to go up well beyond that point. What ever stops it (or isn't) in the upright position is probably your problem

Could be as simple as wrong kind of bolt. It shouldn`t have too much play sideways so the axle bolt could have been replaced with a normal one which is too small for the hole
