Scorpio Battery Drain
I recently purchased and installed the Scorpio SR-i500 with the Factory Plug-in Connector, 3-Stage Perimeter Sensor, Remote Ignition Disable, and Back-up Power System. The alarm was easy to install and seems to work well, with a few exceptions.
The Factory Plug-in connector, plugs into the left and right turn signal and license plate light. I had replaced my license plate light with and LED light. Once I installed the plug-in connector the license plate light stopped working. It turned out the connector reversed the polarity on the light which is a problem with leds verses regular blubs. After installing the alarm I noticed my battery was getting very low after sitting for a while. I did some tests on the electrical system on my bike. With the alarm disconnected and the bike turned off the current leak was around 1.1 mA, which is normal. Honda specs allow up to 2.0 mA. When the alarm is connected armed or un-armed the current draw jumps between 3.8 to 6.2 mA which will drain the battery in about a month. If the perimeter sensor is used the current draw is between 9.6 to 11.6, which would drain the battery in about two weeks or less. Has anyone else noticed issues with the Scorpio alarms? |

i just got a simple alarm so i don't have to deal with that. sorry to ear about your problem. maybe hook it up to a battery tender every other night or so.
