Removing ignition
I have a 2006 Honda cbr 600f4i. My key brok off in ignition and for the life of me I cannot get it out. When I put key in it seemed like someone had jammed something into it cause key didn't go in as easy as Usual and would not turn and would not come out and it broke. Handle bars are locked. Ignition will not turn. So i went to take ignition off and got one side go to the other and of coarse handle bars need to be turned to get to other screw. So that's where I am. What next?, remove whole top of tree? And how how hard is that? I have new ignition, gas cap and seat lock ordered already. A locksmith won't even be able to get key out or handlebars unlocked will they? Not sure if this is correct place to post this. Not in too much of a hurry. Ignition gunna take a while to get here. Please give me some good news, I have the worst of luck when it comes to trying to take things apart. Always one screw I can't get to.
Thank you.
Thank you.

if you have a new barrel/ignition then i would say drill out the original barrel then remove whats left of the key/obstruction and use a screwdriver to unlock the steering, then u can get to what u need to get to to replace the whole thing.
That was my next step. I figured was no way around having to put new one in so ordered it already. I can't pry that metal piece that spins that's on top out for the life of me. Broke a couple screwdrivers and the tip of needle nose trying. so I was going try drilling it out next. That piece of metal is tuff. It Don't bend or give at all. But Once that's off will barrel just pull out if I still can't get key out. Or do I just get big *** drill bit and drill hole thing broken key and all? I'll take picture if that will help. A locksmith could do it right if all else fails.

Ok got that top piece off and got the piece of broken key out. Don't know if there still is anything that was jammed in there before this happened. So hate to have locksmith come make new key if that key won't even work cause something is in there still.. I lost the key code that Honda gave me when I bought it. So do I just drill out the whole inside of the thing that key goes into. And what when I get to the bottom I will be able to turn it? Lol as u can tell I know jack about ignition locks or any locks.
I also see and think I can get to the pin that locks the bars. If I hacksaw that bars will turn correct and The new lock that coming will have a new pin correct?

Tbh I've never replaced an ignition on a bike.. I don't know offhand where the pin lives, if you turn the key in the new ignition does a pin come out?? If you hacksaw it off be careful u dont loose a bit in there and make hassle for yourself!
New one hasn't came yet so I don't know. I assume it will.
As for drilling out barrel. If can't hacksaw locking pin. What do I drill out exactly? What size bit? Do I just drill straight down keyhole? How far down?

Been reading up on it and drilling it isn't That easy from what they say. Will go thru a few bits. But anyways I got it. Went and got a torx bit without the socket end and used a 1/4 socket and the smallest ratchet. And luckily wasn't very tight. Had to get it off one click of the ratchet at a time. The socket end of the other torx I was using was too big and long and with bigger ratchet there was no way to get in there. Now is there a way I can hot wire it so I can ride down to locksmith to see if key can be made and if there is anything stuck in there. I understand why wouldn't want to help hot wire it but I assure u it's mine but it's cool if not. I'm just happy I got the thing off without Having to pay. thank you for help.
