Default RE: problem with starting the engine

I've had it happen to me before... your rectifier is bad. To clarify that a little more... bikes have a generator built into/on the engine to create power, right. The generator makes AC power and the bike has a stator and rectifier to change the voltage from AC to DC and regulates the voltage.

I would put good money on it that it's your rectifier. It works great when it's cold, but after you ride a little the rectifier is hot and it fails. If you sit long enough for it to cool off, it works fine until it heats back up.

Good luck and let me know how it works out for you.
