Paint and body questions

Hey everyone. Ive done paint on cars and ive spray bombed bikes, but never used the "good paint" on bikes. Just wondering what would be the steps in painting fairings?

Body filler for scratches? Should I prime? What kind of paint since fairings are flexible? Sanding/wet sanding?

If youve painted cars , same prep as any other.

Definitely prime.

I've always used catalyzed 'auto' paint. Nothing in a can gets as hard or can be worked as well.

I've actually gone the colorite route once before. (Temporary lapse of judgement ;) ) Its not bad paint but its really expensive, you can buy enough product at an auto body supply to paint a whole bike at least for the same cost. In my case, we could never get a spray out to match correctly but eventually colorite did refund most of my costs. However many seem to have gotten good color results so I may have not been the rule.

All of the rules for painting autos applies. Due to the flexability of the body pannels on a bike, you need to add a flexing agent to the paint, just like you would for plastic automotive bumpers.
