Default Over heating questions.

Lately I've been noticing some cooling issues if I say out on my bike too long. 95% of the time its not a problem because I never sit in traffic out in the country. But when I've been out for a little bit and come to traffic sometimes my temp guage will shoot to the red kinda fast. My fan comes on. When I start moving and get to a good speed it will go back down the middle kinda fast. I even wonder if I'm overheating at all in the first place and its just not some electrical issue. My main concern is that my reg rectifer is not working properly when it gets hot. When its hot and im idleing my rpms will bounce around and I know thats a symptom of a bad reg rec. I'm wondering if this could also be affecting my fuel pump, themostate, or themonitor.
Btw, I'm sure I dont have any air bubbles as I've already changed my coolent and filled it up all the way.

Did you have this problem before you changed the coolant or after.....If after take the radiator cap off and warm it to make sure all the air is out

Clean out the radiator? Maybe there is a build up of foriegn objects?

Also, bikes tend to run kinda hot when they are sitting. My f3 used to do the same thing. I never worried about it. My 954 now gets to 240 on hot days sitting in traffic and it makes me kinda of uncomfortable but according to the manual it isnt hot enough to hurt anything.

Flush that thing. The radiator I mean. Take it off the bike and hose the crusties out of it. And the hoses too. You may not have bubbles, but certainly there could be broken up gunk impeding coolant flow. And I've never heard of the R/R causing overheating, but if it's bad, don't wait for it to get badder.

When does your fan come on? After it get's close to the red? When the fan comes of does the temp continue to rise or does it goe down. If the temp goes down or stays the same when the fan comes on, its probably fine. My fan doesn't come on until around 230°F when in traffic, but it won't go any higher after that. That's a lot higher temp than I am used to (I'm new to bikes, but used to cars) but it appears to be the correct "fan on" setting.

Missed one critical detail there...Though it's good to hear you got it going...

I'd do some research to figure out WHY the fan fuse blew - it went for a reason - check harnesses and modifications... - Fix the reason and you'll have many more cool miles =-)

OH,please promise me you didn't just put a higher amp fuse in...
