Default Only 11.9V?

I've recently put a new battery in my bike - CBR600 F4. The old battery was a bit rough looking and came with the bike when I bought it. It has been losing charge quickly and the bike was hunting around idle and also popping/misfiring at low revs on takeoff (high revs - no prob).

Been good for a couple of days but I have noticed that the popping/misfiring seems to be coming back again. I pulled a multimeter and the battery is giving 11.9V (should be about 12.3V shouldn't it). And at 5000 rpm, it is still 11.9V - so looks like the battery is not charging.

What's the procedure to determine whether it's the R/R vs the alternator (stator)?

Also, I've been looking thru threads and seem to be prohibited from looking at picture attachments. Why is that?

P.S. Luving my CBR600. Riding it daily, it's amazing how well tuned you get to riding it

First off glad to hear your loving the bike! Do you have the service manual for the bike? If not here is a link to it. How many miles are on the bike and did you do the last service? When the bike's idle is not steady it generally mean that the carbs need to be sync'ed amung others (a relatively straight forward task however it requires specific tools). Chapter 16 has a troubleshooting guide on page 3 with pages 6 & 7 on testing the R/R and Alternator. The misfiring can be from a number of issues so start with a carb sync and get your charging system sorted. Another thing that can help is run seafoam through the next tank of gas to help clean up the inside of the carbs.

Hope it helps and I'm sure someone else much smarter than myself will stop by.
