Not Tech - DYED Leather Jacket Conditioner?

Bought this about a month ago from Cycle Gear, love it. But the Lexol Conditioner they suggested and that I bought takes off dye -- the red and the black. So I returned it. Lexol is also known to slightly darken leather and dyes. I regularly use baby wipes to clean it so it's in pretty pristine shape.

Been told that there are two ways that leathers are dyed and that one is the better of the two. My guess is that since this is lower end one (MSRP $325 or so but got it on sale for $199) that it's dyed in the cheaper way.

They guy at CG also said that what I showed him on my white microfiber -- the red and black dye -- may be excess dye since jacket is new. Still didn't want to take the chance with that particular brand in case that isn't the case.

Ideally what I'm looking for is something that of course won't take of the red or black -- or white dye but that still conditions and protects/keeps the leather flexible for a long life. I'm also not rich, so something that doesn't cost an arm and a leg -- need those for ridin'... :D

I used Lexol on my older Joe Rocket leather jacket recently and didn't notice any discoloration.Could be due to its age and that it's already faded.
My mom uses the same stuff on a fairly pricey leather chair.
So Lexol itself is good, but otherwise I can't offer any suggestions.

Thanks for responding. I still have to look into this, find some solution. In the mean time, I'll just keep cleaning it regularly with baby wipes.

You could also try a leather specific sealant like this one

Not sure if you've fixed the problem, try saddle soap from a local tack and feed store, they will set you right, some of the saddles they have cost more then my bike!

Well, I took the plunge on your suggested McGuire Gold Class - just bought the single all-in-one spray bottle and it certainly works well - abolutely no dye came off on any of the colors and added a subtle shine to it all too. Made my couple-months-old new jacket look, well, newer. :) So thanks for the suggestion. NRN.
