New Tires?

New Tires?
I ride a 99' CBR600F4. I am in need of new front tire really bad... The back seems to have a decent amount of tread left.
I called the local bike shop, they qouted me $207 for a 120/70zr17 Dunlop Sportmax. Plus they want $55 for mount/balance. That seems really expensive to me.
Is that a common price?
What are some cheaper options?
Any ideas/suggestions are appreciated!
PS. I don't have a bike stand, so i don't think i can remove the front tire myself... (my gs had a center stand mounted on the bike.)

I just received a set of new BT-016 bridgestones from an online ebay merchant (an actual store that sells through ebay) for around $244.90 bucks shipped, cost me $60 at a local dealer to mount and balance both tires. $30 bucks per tire, but I removed them from the bike and brought in just the rims with old rubber on them.
As a side note, the same dealer that mounted my tires for me qouted me over $600 bucks for a set of the identical tires, mounting and balancing. A dealer is pretty much the worst place to buy the actual tires. Just glanced at ebay and theres quite a few new dunlop sportmax fronts on there for right around 120 or so shipped. http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/ is another good place to buy tires. They have an ebay storefront as well.

wow, that is outrageous for a tire. You can get one ebay for under 130 shipped to your house.
As far as paying the 55 bucks for the tire changing, you might be stuck. as others said, you can save 20 bucks by removing it yourself, but if you dont have the means, your kind of out of luck.
The reason your bike doesnt have a center stand is its a performance bike and center stands add too much weight. Your basically riding a race bike on the street, and the factory saved weight everywhere they could.
If you have a garage with rafters, you can take two rachet straps and and attach them to either side of your bikes frame, or the top triple clamp, but its better to get the load spread out wider to help ballance the bike better. Also, I know of some people that jack the front up by using a floor jack under the oil pan, or even the header. I personally use my frame and two rachet straps. Just be careful when you let it down, you will need to help ballance the bike and let one loose so there is just a little slack in, then the other. Go back and forth about half and inch at a time. Also, you only need about and inch and half of clearance to get the tire off.
But in the end, it might just be easier to take it in. If money's not really tight, it would probably be 20 bucks extra well spent.
