New Rider, New Helmet.

New Rider, New Helmet.
Hello All,
I'm new to streetbikes. When I was younger (I'm 28) I owned a 88 Suzuki Quadracer 250 and a 77 Suzuki PE250 dirt bike.I have gotten a 01 F4I. I ordered a new HJC CS-12 helmet. My old dirt bike helmet was a XL, and it became too loose over time. I measured my head and ordered my new helmet. Another XL. This one seems a too tight, but I'm wondering if I should send it back or see if it will loosen over time. By tight I mean slight pressure around my ears. And my ears feel like they being pulled downward. And NO I don't have big ears. Does anyone have any idea what I should set my suspension at, for a 300lb rider. And yes I know I'm too large for the stock springs, but I can't afford to get upgraded ones, right now. I'm also in the process of loosing weight, therefor what I get now, might not be what I need later on. The suspension set-up for be for crusing backroads, and best braking possible.
