Need serious help!!!
I was going to change my oil and started to take the oil drain plug out, I used the supplied wrench from my tool kit I think its a 12mm but anyway it wouldnt budge and now it is srtipped bad. My brother tried to use vise grips and F'd it up more. What should I do, buy a new oil pan? And if I go that route does a 01-06 pan fit? They look identical but wanted to ask. Thanks guys

RE: Need serious help!!!
if the hex part of the drain plug is fawkd. get a angle grinder or similar, and with a cut off wheel, cut a slot in it so you can twist it out like a screw.. i and then go buy a big screw drvier socket (3/8" will work, but a 1/2" will handle more force) and break it loose that way. or if you can weld.. weld a nut or a cheap socket on there and do it that way.
both ways cheaper than a new oil pan. |
RE: Need serious help!!!
you can use a bolt/screw extractor.... here's a link to the selection from sears.com. not sure which one you would need, though.

RE: Need serious help!!!
Also, next time use a good 6 pt. socket. The tool kit IMHO is just for looks.
