I was able to fix my "crotch crack" (fairing damage) by utilizing a little crazy glue on the edges to hold it together. Then used fiber glass to further reinforce it.
I know this looks like crap, but it's a solid fixand better than buying a new one. One of these days I'll get touch up paint.

Home Depot or Lowe's$20-30 for everything: you'll need the fiberglass cloth, resin, and hardener. Make sure you follow the directions to the "T". I was kinda lucky in that I'd laid some down before with my father, but it's really not that hard. You might want to practice a little first.
