Mates bike has fuel in sump
As the title suggests, my mates got a problem with his bike and my only advice to him so far is don’t start it. The bike is fuel injected and is a recent purchase.
He was randomly going out and starting his bike just to enjoy hearing it run before putting her on the road. Recently he remarked to me that it was “lumpy” at low rpm but sweet at higher rpm. Then today he messages me explaining that whilst he was looking in the sight glass (oil level) he saw what he described as condensation and removed his plug to reveal a very fume filled sump.
I have done some research but there’s no place like your own forum.
I don’t have fi so I’m looking for help please. Apart from now knowing how to measure the resistance of the injectors, I need to know more. Can an injector partially close and weep, I don’t know....I assume the pump wouldn’t allow this. Are there seals that can go or would a simple injector cleaner be worth trying ?
Im going to drop the oil for him, check the connections and resistance of his injectors but I would still like to understand more so any help would be appreciated
Thanks
