Default Loose part....

So my bike fell over in a lawn yesterday, and I had assumed everything was fine...

Then today I noticed that the little gold cylinder (excuse my lack of technical knowledge here, but I have no idea what that thing is) has some play to it now. In other words, I can wiggle it with my hand. I doubt it was like that before. Any help would appreciated here.

Umm, can we get a location of this little gold cylinder? Maybe a picture of it too?

No....I'm not sure it wasn't loose before...I just noticed it today and it's probably a coincidence. I feel like a total moron, but what exactly does that part do?

my guess is it is a resevoir of some type for the gases inside your rear coil over shock, but i could be wrong. Is there any kind of oily residue that looks like it might be leaking out of it?
