Loose front sprocket!
Hello everybody, please can someone help me? Ive got a 2000 Blade(im constantly grinning now), when i got it, the guy before me had changed the front sprocket to a 15 tooth. Last night i put a 16 tooth sprocket on but it doesnt seem thick enough. It can slide by about 15 thou back and forth on the spline. Im worried that by being able to slide on this spline that it will wear the shaft which one day will cost loads to replace. Is this looseness correct or should i be making a spacer to go behind it or in front of the washer so that its tight on the shaft?
Thanks Mick |
RE: Loose front sprocket!
put the 15 tooth back on, there is no reason to go up a tooth if it was already changed....

RE: Loose front sprocket!
it should not slide, when i changed my they were tight, stock set up and aftermarket.
anyways, li ke lonewolf said, just leave the 15 on there, do you really need to go 100mph in first gear? (1000rr right?) ORIGINAL: mickyj It can slide by about 15 thou back and forth on the spline. |
RE: Loose front sprocket!
A little bit of play is completely normal in the front sprocket

RE: Loose front sprocket!
.015" isnt that much movement. A little bit is normal. I certainly wouldnt make a spacer as you might misalign it.

RE: Loose front sprocket!
Thanks for the replies. Im gonna leave the std 16 tooth on there and not worry about the 15 thou movement.
