Knocking/clicking/rattling
 

I just got my 93 900RR (woohoo!) and unfortunately I didn't notice that when I let off the gas I hear a very loud clicking/rattling/knocking noise. This only happens when the bike is in gear; when I pull in the clutch it stops. Does anyone have any idea what this problem is? How much it would be to fix? Can I repair it myself?

Both of my Honda's do this. I've got an old '75 CB 550, I first ntoiced it on this bike, wasn't quite sure what it was, I had done a lot to that bike to get it running when I first bought it but didn't try and fix the issue because everything worked just fine. I bought my '04 CBR 600RR and noticed it as well. I read an explanation about it somewhere at somepoint, I can't remember the exact reason now, something with the clutch basket? Regardless it's not really a problem, unless it's really bad I wouldn't worry too much about it, sounds normal to me. I ususally relate the sound to a DOHC 4-Cylinder Car engine with a lifter tick problem.
