Jacket sizes and fitment
Hey everyone I am looking to get my first motorcycle jacket. I have been using a leather jacket but would like something more fitted and "sporty" shall we say. Ive seen that if you have a 44'' chest get a 44 jacket. usually a large is 42-44'' xl 46-48''. I have a 44'' chest and was wondering if a Large or 44 would be too tight?

This is great question, so I thought I have a 44" chest too when measuring pit to pit...but wait...take a deep breath!!! 44" becomes 45-46"...then you may want to wear under garmet...sure large will fit you but it'll make you feel fat....when wear jacket.
I just purchase a Icon Overlord leather jacket. I measure my chest 43", so I gave it 1 more inch when taking a deep breath, I purchase the XL....jacket fit me perfect!!! But NOT loose... |
So i should be looking for a xl then Im guessing. Aww poop. Thanks!

If you wear your jacket alot in cold weather, you likely to wear something underneath....for me it's a t-shirt/then long sleeve garmet/ then jacket.
Many people forget about these and measure their chest straight up. Take a deep breath to measure too cause your chest will expand... XL.... But if you have chance, just stop by any cycle shop and try...

You are suppose to take a really deep breath when you measure anyway, when they size the jackets its the outside leather size. They don't figure in for the back pad and the liner. So you need to take a deep breath and measure for any jacket to make it fit correctly.

Its all going to depend on the particular brand. No two, ever fit the same.
In general, you need to fit the jacket snugly to your body such that the CE armor will protect the areas its designed to. If the jacket is loose, the armor will move around & may not protect. BTW, this topic should be in the *Riding Gear* section. ;-) |
Heh, I measured and my measurement was a 36, but my 42 jacket fit's just right...I would try some on in stores.

go to store. try on. close thread.
