Idle speed

Hi, bought a '93 Cbr1000f a few weeks back. Idle seems a bit low around 600rpm. I did a search but could not find what the idle speed should be. Bike runs great underway, but I need to feather the throttle a little while idling to keep the rpm's up. Can I adjust this at the throttle adjustment (nut) and what should the idle rpm's be? Thanks!

You should be around 1200 rpms or so. Im not sure on that bike, but there should be a remote idle adjuster. Look at iether side of your bike, look for a knob that is kind of just out in space. It may be hidden by your fairings, but in most cases, its readily visible, and most of the time it will be on the left hand side of the bike, somewhere in the middle of the bike.

If you talking about the nut on the throttle itself, then no, this is not the place to adjust the throttle. This is the place to adjust freeplay within the throttle system. If you pull on your throttle, you should have a little of slack before it engages the carbs. You dont want the throttle so tight it is holding the carbs open.

Thanks, I did not want to adjust anything without asking. I will check for the idle adjuster. I appreciate the advice!
