how much is a far price for a shop to ask for installing tires? my local tire shop dosent do bikes, but i think its like $20 per car tire

the local bike shop/dealer ship was a pain in the but, the sevice desk, said "uh, if you buy them from us instale is free" so he transfered my call to the part dept to get a price, parts wanted $400 for pilot power ct2 tires, as oppossed to $300 online, then he told me that they only installe tires that are bought from them, I am pretty sure thats a lie and my friend told that they are shady and will strait up lie to you to make a sale, so i am pretty sure i am going to stay away from that place. I cant see getting it installed there being worth $100 bucks.

the other shop I know of is small and pricy, but i trust them alittle more.

 

For $100, you can buy your own tire changer.

i wouldn't pay more than $40 per tire on bike, $35 off.

 

how hard is it to take wheels off and back on? I am worried about the rear alingment and tension, so i will probably just have the shop do it.

 

it's easy. adjusting the axle is easy. i put mine down to zero and turn them equal # of rotations, set the axle, then do 1/8 rotations on both size til i get it to 25-35mm in slack.

 

Wheel r&R is easy if you have stands.Lots of write ups on this.

My local cycle gear did mine for 12.50 a tire (mount and balance off the bike)But i got the tires from them also.

 

I hear you on that one! My honda dealer, or atleast the one 2 miles up the road is shady as hell. Those guys in the sales department are ******. Everytime I go in I am there for a reason, but I walk around for a few minutes just to see if they will get there lazy asses off their stools, or even great me with a hello. 90% of the time, there's not even a hello. The sales guys at the Kawi/Suzuki shop 2 miles in the other direction on the other hand are wonderful people. They actually seem to give a damn about their customers. I have had conversation for about an hr a few different times, with two different salesmen. If buying a bike came down to strictly customer service, I would have went with the guys at the Kawi/Suzuki shop. They even called me several times to let me know about the specials and price drops when they came along. Why can't the Honda guys act the same way? Ok, enough on the mini-rant.

The service department guys at Honda seem to be decent guys. They didn't give me any BS when installing my exhaust, slider, and a few other misc items. The prices for things were fairly reasonable.

 

I charge 25 to mount and balance a tire on a wheel that is off the bike and 40 to mount and balance a tire on a wheel that is on the bike.

 

$20 on the bike at my local dealer. I buy my tires from them anyways so I don't know if that's only for their tires.
