Default How hot is hot?

On my F3, if I'm stuck in traffic notice my temp gauge rise up to 1/2 way.

Is this normal? Once I start moving, it drops down to about 1/4 way.

You are fine as long as it does not go in the red.

Thanks!
I'm also wondering if its normal for my lights (headlight, indicators, etc) to get brighter when I rev it a little. My idle is set to 1200, and as I rev the motor, the lights will get brights. Once the RPM hits 1600-1700, it stop getting brights (as it has reached its maximum brightness).

Completely normal. You should notice at a certain point (just above the screw in the middle of the gauge for me) the fan will click on and the temp will remain constant. As long as this is the case for you, you're golden.

As a side note, if you think its been quite a while since the coolant was changed or you just don't know, it might be a good idea to go through with a flush for some peace of mind. Love your bike and it will love you back!

+1. Halfway is perfect for idling after running for a while. It means your cooling system is working. If you get above 3/4, panic.

Awesome!
Yes..its never gone over 1/2 way (right by the screw).

I don't know when the last coolant flush was gone, so I'll give it a flush tonight

Thanks again!

I missed your second question before... that's also normal. A bike's charging system works different than a car, so that it doesn't actually provide a full charge until you hit 4,000 rpm or so. So yes, the headlight will get brighter to a point as rpms increase.

As already said everything is quite normal ... on mine if it gets very hot the
cooling fan behind the radiator comes on, you can usually hear it as a change
in noise even over the bike engine ... when it gets hot see if it is running :-)
