Horn, need a good one
got this F4i start of summer, and the previous owner had a moped horn (sounded like the horn had a cold) on it. which was good enough but i couldnt even hear it over the engine.
so i swapped it out for a canadian tire special horn, it was good but it died, not sure what i did but it kicked the bucket last week.

so then i went to princess auto, got a nice set of 'trumpet' horns

so now they sound good but i dont have much room for them,
the question is what do you guys use? something good but i really dont want to do a lot wiring for it either, and dont want an air horn.
also where is a good place to mount them, i found a spot between the engine block and the exhaust header but i think the heat will end up cooking it or melting the plastic or something.
i cant be the only one with this problem.
just need something loud and reliable
any ideas would be great
thanks

Well I know you said no airhorns but Stebel are LOUD and compact for what they are.

my friend has Stebel on his chopper, but he has TONS of room to put that massive thing up, i dont think those will fit in the stock location of the F4i. so if i do manage to pick one up, where can i install it? and i think they will need a 20Amp relay / fuse tapped off the battery.
so i went to crappy tire, and got a set of atv horns, they are not very deep but loud as heck, you can actually hear it over the exhust at high way speeds.
it was $40 for the pair and wiring harness, used the original wires to power the relay and tapped off the battery for the horns, works good so far.

ya except the prev owner took it out and replaced it with a buzzer or something, i really cant even hear it over my own engine, and on a bike, if i have to use my horn i want people to know something is up. most of the time i just go around the idiot anyway so no horn needed.

+1
Find room

Alternatively Kawasaki put a pair of quite loud horns (compact) up behind the screen on the Concours (GTR1000). Check your local wrecker.
Cheers, SB
My horn is absolutely dismal haha i went crazy with it one day and its never been the same since. I want to get something that sounds like a train is coming. I have plenty of room under my tail for it. any suggestions?
Edit: I have alot of room but after looking at them i guess its a little more involved than I thought with a big compressor tank and what not.

now that being said, you can buy a smaller version of this 'air horn'

the black one is the same Stebel horn people talk about, it peaks at 18Amp so you def need to run wire/relay/fuse for it. you will find out that it is very loud if you can fit it somewhere. under the seat might not be a good idea as you will feel it in your ars every time you goto use it. if you can fit it somewhere behind the winscreen or what ever like some other people have said then bonus. the stock location wont work too well unless you can some how manage to keep it from rubbing on your forks.
