High RPM cold start? Normal?
 

I couldn't figure how to search for this so I am asking..it's probably been discussed a lot but I am pretty new to the list and this is my first injected CBR...a 2002 F4i.

When I start it from cold, it fires right up no problem but the idle is at 3200 and it goes up to almost 3500 before it starts to warm up and slow down to normal running (mine is set to idle at about 900) This warm-up period lasts about a minute, I guess..never put a watch on it.

Seems to me that ripping itself right up to ~3500 rpm when dead cold, that has to be not great for the motor. Is this the normal way these run? If not, where do I look in the shop manual to work this warm up RPM down a bit?

Perfectly normal. Warms up the components/oil/coolant faster that way.

I used to worry about the high revs when I first bought my 2002 F1 in 2010, but now I know it's normal I don't! Seems they all do it eh? LOL! Great bike and won't be selling it any day soon!

It`s basically the equivalent to setting the manual choke on a carbureted bike. Don`t worry, I thought the exact same when I started mine in the cold. But eh, if that`s what the bike is set to do, and I don`t have to deal with a choke, then have at it.
