HELP: putting back together the back end of the bike

Hey guys and gals, i got a 1998 honda cbr 600 f3 and all the pastics where broken the rear seat cowl stay the little "U" shaped bracket. Now i bought all the pastics from ebay from where ever i can. but the rear seat cowl stay i got from honda and i downloaded the manual for the f3 but it was the 96 version manual. and i saw i picture of the rear seat cowl stay and it wasnt mounted to the frame it was mounted to the rear fender is this true. do i need to buy the rear fender to attach my rear cowl stay on. Or is there any way i can attach it to the frame or something else maybe.

Here is an image, i took the top from the service manual bottom from there too.

As you can see in the top of the picture the seat cowl stay is mounted to the rear fender. I was wondering if there is anyway to elimate having to use it but still being able to hold up my rear brake light and the little plastic piece.

You will need the rear fender to mount up the rear cowl stay. If I remember correctly, there are 2 bolts that hold it down and there there are 2 little pins that keep it lined up correctly. You don't have the rear fender? I might have floating around some where and would be willing to part with it if you're interested.

yeah i do need one. i bought it with no rear end plastics or anything. and i slowly bought everything from different places. but i didnt know i needed the rear fender to attach the cowl stay on. :(

I was considering getting a fender eliminator but i wasnt sure if the aftermarket fender eliminators came with some sort of mounting piece for the rear cowl stay.

can you post a pic of what it looks like for the newer cbrs (1998 model) and how much would you want for it. i live in Toronto Ontario Canada.

has anyone made there own, or are the fender eliminators for our bikes useless in this case.

I did a bike like yours some time ago (buying parts up from ebay). Mine was an old track bike that I used to repair mine and then decided to make a bike out of it. The only thing is if I had a question how something went, I would just look at my bike.I've seen a lot guys take their fenders andtrim themwith a dremel instead of getting a kit. The kits (if available anymore) are in the ball park of $130 to $150. The fender I have is for a 97 - 98 (there's a difference between 95/96 & 97/98). I'll get some pics up on here but it won't be till later on tonight. I would let it got for $10 plus the shipping. What's your postal/zip code so that I can give you a figure on the shipping. Another thing, are there any other parts you need? I have a few other misc parts that I could throw in.
