hey i have yet another???my 00 cbr 600 f4has about 5200 miles on itand is makeing a poping sound!! my sprockets are good the chain is not to loose or tight but when u roll the bike off or with it on or drive n it when it gets to one spot it makes a pop sound!!! i was wondering if i just need to get a new chain or is it something else!!!!!!

 

Are you running any mods (for instance, Aftermarket add-ons)? If so, how long since you added the mods? Did you just rejet the carbs oradjust the throttle body? Sounds like a backfire to me--which is generally related to your engine timing or carb/throttle body settings.

 

well i have rejeted carbs vance n hines exhaust and kn filter!!!but it's doing it with the bike off

ahh I see, I guess I didn't understand your original statement.

When it gets to that one spot where it pops, does the pop seem like it occurs once per wheel revolution, or does it vary according to which gear you are in (for instance, does it pop more often when riding it in first gear and pops less oftenwhenriding in a higher gear?)

 

sounds like a dead or kinked spot in your chain...i would clean and relube it and your sound should go away

 

well it's pops even if it's not in gear!!!just pushing it i think it is a bad link n the chain it seems to only pop in lower gears whenride ncan't tell in higher bike is 2 loud!!!!!!

 

well i cleaned and put some chain wax on the chain still doing it!!!!! i think i might just go pick up a DID gold chain i heard they are suppose to be pretty good!!!!
